Sweet. Guess what? Marie and Simone are right. As it turns out, it's not an opal, and it's not the necklace (featured by Kim on polyvore.com)... Thank you so much, ladies!

Blue Morpho butterflies generally have a full lifespan of approximately 115 days (a total of 137 days, from egg 'till death). If you're looking to be more humane, make sure before you buy, that the butterfly lived out its natural life before being used to make the pendant.

I too am desperately looking for the blue-ish pendant/long necklace worn by Meryl in It's Complicated (the one in the picutre that Solgar1970 uploaded). Can this website (or anyone that knows) please tell us where we can find it? I'm thinking that it is either Labradorite OR Rainbow Moonstone. The necklace reflected the gold of her jacket that she was wearing it with at the party & Labradorite tends to show golden as well as the blue.... however I'm not sure. PLEASE PLEASE help those of us searching for this necklace. There are multiple people looking on various websites for this necklace so this would benefit a whole group of us that are dying to get this! Thanks!

The clothes/jewelry that Meryl's character wore were fantastic!
That blue-ish/iridescent colored pendant piece that Meryl wore; she wore it in about three scenes in the movie. The scenes are:
1.) the bar scene, with Meryl & Alec flirting/dancing,
2.) the big party scene, with Meryl and Steve Martin's characters on their first date, and
3.) (post party), with Meryl and Steve making chocolate croissants after-hours, at her cafe's kitchen.

The pendant itself, was a very brightly colored stone. The colors of it were iridescent/electric blue. Its shape was a sort of a slanted pear shape. It was on a long, beautiful, gold chain. Unforgettable! I wonder what the stone on this pendant actually was, the way that it caught the light. The photo I've included doesn't do it justice. I can't for the life of me figure out if it was...
Opalite? Australian black fire opal? Moonstone? Abalone? Mother of Pearl? Looks more like
Opalite, or an opal of some kind.

Would it be possible to find out who made it, and more importantly, where I can buy it/one like it?

I read in the film credits that Nina Johnston was Meryl Streep's Costumer, and Suzanne Cranfill was Costume Supervisor on the film, if that helps.
